Here the Mountains Whisper
A Dwarven Sunk, commonly referred to as Sunks, are a form of dwarf habitat which has filled many different roles over the years. They are inverted pyramid structures, dug into the ground, with typically four or five levels. They originally acted as temples or places or worship, allowing a dwarf on the surface level to go down and be among the earth during prayer. The same structure was then adopted for use as homes for rural dwarfs, and many can still be found dotting the landscape, though they tend to be grown over and hard to find unless you are looking. Since the Daalish Spring, they have used more as storehouses or places to camp during the night to hide from wandering creatures in the wilderness.
Older Sunks should be approached with extreme caution, as they are just as likely to become dens for large woodland creature or have dwarven curses on them to prevent looting.
